Business Owners Responsible for Keeping Customers Safe

Meehan Law Firm was recently retained to represent a shooting victim who was assaulted on the parking lot of the Crown Food Mart in East St. Louis.  The shooting occurred at a Crown Food Mart operated by Majed Abusaid and his corporation, Crown Food 9, Inc.  The authorities have known for years that these operations are dangerous and attract criminals because the owners were charged with selling illegal drugs from their facilities.

Illinois law imposes the duty on business owners to provide protection to their business invitees (customers) if they knew or should have known that their location was dangerous.

In this particular case, the Crown Food owners have been cited for maintaining a public nuisance and for selling illegal drugs and also unlicensed drugs at their facility.  The Meehan Law Firm hopes to seek compensation for their client, who was badly wounded and may lose the use of his right arm.  If you think you have been the victim of a landowner who maintained a dangerous property such as a dangerous food mart, please contact us with further information.
