Criminal Defense: Drug Charges/Possession

The attorneys of Missouri’s Meehan Law Firm represent individuals who have been charged with either felony or misdemeanor drug possession, trafficking, distribution or manufacturing. These drug charges carry serious punishments ranging from 1 to 15 years in prison, with certain mandatory minimum sentences in the Federal system.

If you are charged with such a crime, it is important that you do not make any statements to the police that would tend to suggest that you are guilty. Many drug charges stem from searches during traffic stops; these searches are often illegal, as the police actually exceed their authority in performing them. If you are stopped for a simple traffic offense, you do not need to allow the officer to search your car, unless an occupant of the car has an outstanding warrant or may be suspected of another crime.

It is possible that, if charged, you may be eligible for the Drug Court, a unique program that allows you to avoid any criminal record if you complete an intensive 15-month drug education and rehabilitation program. Other offenders are eligible for probation, which also results in no felony conviction. Please contact our office for further details.
